Rose of no mans land- ONE OFF STAMP
One of my favorite and most iconic images in american tattooing. The Rose of NO Man's Land, is a simple image with a powerful meaning, giving homage to the female saviors of both WW1 and WW2, who came to the aid of injured soldiers, and becoming Saints in the eyes of the young mens on the battlefields, for seeing the red cross on their white veils gave you the comfort of knowing and angel was there to make you whole again. “No Man's Land” was known throughout WWI and WWII as the desolate area between opposing trenches. “The Rose” symbolizes the Red Cross nurses who tended to wounded soldiers in the battlefield. In the tattoo culture, this image has been used historically to memorialize those women, many of whom were viewed as saviors.
